Gas ‘grifter’ on empty
A Queens man was busted for using counterfeit gift cards to buy more than $3,000 worth of gas — at a service station that has been robbed of more than $100,000 in recent months through similar thefts, authorities said.
George Alochukwu, 36, of Jamaica, was arrested for grand larceny after he used bogus, re-encoded gift cards to fill up at a BP station in New Hyde Park, LI, on Tuesday, said Nassau Detective Sgt. Lucy Graziano.
Alochukwu was allegedly carrying 42 counterfeit, re-encoded gift cards when he was arrested.
