Gay-marriage vote on hold
ALBANY — After weeks of uncertainty and pleas for action by Gov. Paterson, the state Senate yesterday indefinitely put off a vote on legalizing same-sex marriage.
But last night, Paterson huddled with Empire Pride Agenda leader Alan Van Capelle and several lawmakers and later said Senate Democratic leaders agreed to put the bill up for vote “at a date not certain between now and the end of the year.”
Senate leaders John Samson and Malcolm Smith, who attended the powwow, did not appear at the press conference.
