ALBANY — It pays to support gay marriage.

Stephen Saland, one of four state GOP senators who provided crucial votes to help make gay marriage legal in New York last year, has raised $425,202 for his re-election since the vote in late June.

Prominent gay-rights supporters helped fuel the big-bucks collection for Saland, of Poughkeepsie.

Saland’s latest haul is more than five times the $78,000 he raised during the same six-month period heading into his 2010 election contest.
