Metro-North has begun painstaking renovations to the arched 100-year-old “whispering gallery” next to the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Terminal’s lower level.
The railroad plans to preserve the gallery’s acoustics, which let whispers carry across the arches from one diagonal corner to another.
The $450,000 project, involving specially designed, glazed terra cotta tiles, is to be finished by November.
