Gehry now B’way bound
An independent theater company that had once planned to move to Ground Zero will instead get a new home designed by Frank Gehry in the Theater District.
Mayor Bloomberg said yesterday the city will contribute $25 million toward the $60 million Signature Theatre on 42nd Street.
It will be part of The Related Companies’ $800 million, 59-story residential and hotel complex. The center will house three theaters, a cafe and bookstore. It’s expected to open in 2012.
