HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A soldier from this Mercer County town has been killed in southern Iraq, relatives said.
Lt. Omar Vazquez, 25, was one of two soldiers killed Friday morning by an improvised bomb, they said.
Further details were not disclosed, and the Department of Defense had not confirmed Vazquez’s death as of late yesterday afternoon.
Vazquez, who served with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment based at Fort Hood, Texas, deployed to Iraq in August.
