A 13-year-old autistic girl was fighting for her life last night after jumping from her family’s moving SUV on the Staten Island Expressway, cops said.
The child was in the back seat of her mom’s 2011 Nissan Rogue in the eastbound middle lane near Lilly Pond Road at 6:30 p.m. when she opened the door and leaped into traffic, cops said.
A driver behind the SUV stopped short when he saw the girl’s body heading toward his vehicle, but a motorist behind him swerved and ran over the unidentified girl, cops said.
She was listed in critical condition and was undergoing surgery for internal injuries and a broken leg at Staten Island University North Hospital, cops said.
