A 5-year-old girl and her father’s girlfriend — as well as three dogs — were killed when a blaze tore through an East Harlem NYCHA apartment early Wednesday, authorities said.
The blaze broke out just after 2:30 a.m. – trapping the young victim, the 36-year-old woman, and her 46-year-old dad inside a sixth-floor apartment of the eight-story building at the Jackie Robinson Houses on East 129th Street near Lexington Avenue, cops and fire officials said.
The girl and her father were rushed to Harlem Hospital, where the child succumbed to her injuries and the man remains in critical condition, police said.
The woman was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where she, too, was pronounced dead.
The child and her father lived in the apartment, but the girlfriend did not, cops said.
Threedogs also died in the blaze, authorities said.
