A messy domestic battle in which a city cop admittedly shot her girlfriend with her service revolver in Harlem last week got messier today, when the girlfriend was charged today with allegedly starting the fight — by swinging a clothes iron.

Erica Legall, 42, was charged with felony assault for allegedly striking her gal pal, Ekeythia Dunston, 32, in the head with the iron as they sparred over the contents of a text message in Legall’s West 128th St. apartment. The charge carries a maximum prison term of 15 years.

Legall, who’d been hospitalized recovering from shots to her shoulder and leg, was released today without bail. Dunston — the niece of former Met Shawon Dunston, was charged last week with the highest level of felony assault — a charge carrying a maximum sentence of up to 25 years prison — and is out on $1,000 bail.

The two have signed orders of protection promising to keep away from each other.
