CARMEL, NY — Boaters rescued a 6-year-old girl from a small reservoir in this town north of the city after finding her clinging to the floating corpse of a family friend, officials said yesterday.

The cause of death of the woman, Pamela Kaner, 59, of Brewster, was not yet known. The girl was uninjured, police said.
