Shards of glass rained down this weekend from the 56th floor of a building in Midtown that was the site of a recent crane accident, officials said.

The glass fell from the skyscraper under construction at 111 West 57th St. during heavy winds and rain on Sunday night, according to the Department of Buildings.

Investigators visited the building Monday morning and found a glass curtain wall panel had broken and sent the shards falling to the street below.

The DOB issued a partial stop work order for all construction work on the exterior of the building because of the falling glass, a DOB spokesperson said.

In October, debris from the skyscraper crashed down to the street after a “headache ball” attached to a crane atop crashed into the side of the building.
