Glassy-eyed thief busted
A shady ex-con working for an eyewear company swiped nearly $50,000 in spectacles after breaking into a booth at the Jacob Javits Center during a trade show, cops said yesterday.
Robert Cagle, 45, allegedly smashed the lock on a display case at the Ultra Palm Optical booth during the International Vision Expo on West 34th Street and Tenth Avenue at around 6 p.m. March 20.
From the case, Cagle took 314 pairs of eyewear, including Cazal sunglasses, which were made famous by hip-hop luminaries Jay-Z and Run DMC, cops said. Police matched a fingerprint from the display case to Cagle, who was arrested Sunday and charged with grand larceny.
