It was a hair-raising scene in Downtown Brooklyn as legendary actor Al Pacino donned an Afro bigger than any “Wall of Sound” to play legendary music producer Phil Spector.

Pacino’s been wigging out for his work in an upcoming HBO biopic on Spector, who rose to fame with his distinctive production techniques on albums for everyone from The Ronettes to The Beatles.

After years of seclusion, Spector’s career fabulously flamed out in a bizarre set of murder trials in Los Angeles over the 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson in his home. He was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison.
