The Long Island deli owner who shot to fame after giving a would-be robber $40 and a loaf of bread last year was forced to close because of dwindling sales.

“It makes me so sad to close this place where I did something that made people so happy around the world,” said Mohammad Shoail, 47, of Shirley. “I was here for 15 years. I miss my customers already.”

True to form, he donated whatever remained on his shelves to local churches and charities. He hopes to open a new store at a better location.
