A former champion Chinese gymnast paralyzed in an accident at the 1998 Goodwill Games on Long Island has filed a $1.8 billion lawsuit against organizers Time Warner Inc. and the US Gymnastics Federation, saying they broke promises to care for her afterward.

The suit was filed yesterday in Manhattan federal court by Sang Lan, now 29, who broke her neck during a warm-up vault.

The defendants had no comment.
