State Senate Deputy Minority Leader John DeFrancisco filed paperwork with the Board of Elections Monday to run for governor.
The official announcement from the Syracuse Republican is expected Tuesday.
He’ll face a long line of fellow GOPers competing for the right to take on Gov. Cuomo in November.
They include Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb; Joe Holland, a former state senator and state housing commissioner under ex-Gov. George Pataki and Joel Giambra, a former Democratic County executive from the Buffalo area who switched to the GOP in 1999.
But none have amassed anything close to the $31 million sitting in Cuomo’s war chest.
