ALBANY — The Big Apple is getting charged up.

About 100 electric-vehicle and hybrid charging stations will be up and running in the metro area starting next year, Gov. Cuomo announced yesterday.

They’ll be built at 36 transportation hubs and parking lots in and around the city, including underground garages at Columbia University, malls and parking lots at Montefiore Medical Center in The Bronx and suburban park-and-ride locations and apartment buildings.

Cuomo announced plans for 360 stations statewide, and hopes for 3,000 in five years, as part of a $50 million boost to New York’s electric-vehicle industry.
