ALBANY — Gov. Paterson made clear yesterday he won’t be a “political retread” after he leaves office — even if it leaves him on the welfare rolls.
While co-hosting WOR’s morning radio show, the lame-duck governor said he has no interest in running for office, including the congressional seat now held by embattled Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel, even as Paterson searches for a paying post-gubernatorial gig.
“If I didn’t find a job, I would be the first governor to go from the Executive Mansion to social services,” the governor joked. “But I’m going to try and avoid that.”
The 3½-hour stint was Paterson’s second extended radio appearance this week, after spending Wednesday co-hosting Mike Francesa’s WFAN show.
