ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo yesterday consigned a do-nothing state task force on “retired” racehorses to the glue factory.

Cuomo vetoed legislation that would have extended the panel despite its failure to produce a single report or recommendation since its creation in 2005 under then-Gov. George Pataki.

Cuomo said he vetoed the extension as part of an effort “to cut down on needless government bureaucracy and protect taxpayer dollars.”

The body was supposed to address the problem of racehorses that are unfit for racing, without sending them to a slaughterhouse.
