Gov’s light at end of tunnel
New Jersey taxpayers will find out by tomorrow whether they’ll be footing the bill for an additional $1 billion for a massive rail-tunnel project.
After killing the project earlier this month, state and federal officials persuaded New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to take another look at the tunnel, which will carry Amtrak and NJ Transit trains under the Hudson River.
Christie said he’d take the weekend to decide the fate of the nation’s largest transportation initiative, which feds now say will clock in at $9.7 billion.
