The famed Gramercy Park Hotel has agreed to renovate some of its luxury suites and other hotel facilities to resolve a Justice Department complaint that they were inaccessible to people with disabilities.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan announced the settlement Thursday.

The hotel already has some accessible rooms. However, government civil rights lawyers complained that some of its most deluxe areas didn’t meet federal standards for handicapped access. Those include the penthouse suite, spa and rooftop club and gardens.

The hotel has also agreed to add lobby phones for people with hearing problems.

A vice president at the company that owns the hotel says it is committed to providing every guest “with an experience of the highest caliber.”
