He’s finally home.
Adorable 3-year-old Nathaniel Fons — who was abandoned at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with nothing but a crumpled note in his pocket that listed the phone number for a Florida detective — has been reunited with his grandparents.
Donald and Frieda Fons said they were granted temporary custody of their grandson on Friday by a Florida court. The couple will find out in June if they will be granted full custody.
“There was a reason he was left at St. Patrick’s Cathedral,” said an overjoyed Frieda. “God was watching over him.”
The tot’s mom had been arrested on a charge of passing counterfeit money on April 18. She left Nathaniel with two traveling companions who abandoned him after two days.
