A 21-year-old Bergen County, New Jersey, resident was taken into custody after a SWAT team stand-off following a dispute with his grandfather that ended in the older man’s gruesome death.

Ronald Vicari, 81, of Elmwood Park, was found with a fatal ax wound inside his home on Beachwood Avenue by a family member who called police, Daily Voice reported.

Cops called in the SWAT team at around 9:30 a.m., and grandson Jason Vicari — who had locked himself in the house — surrendered 50 minutes later after speaking with a negotiator, authorities told the news outlet.

The elder Vicari was a prominent figure in Elmwood Park, where he served on the planning and zoning boards.
