The Supreme Court’s decision casting doubt on Chicago’s tough gun ban won’t have a “detrimental effect” on New York City, Mayor Bloomberg said yesterday.
By a 5-4 vote, the court ruled that Americans have a right to own a gun for self-defense anywhere they live.
But the justices signaled that some limitations on the right to bear arms could survive.
“We don’t think it’ll have a detrimental effect,” Bloomberg said. “The court clearly said that reasonable regulations, as opposed to a ban, are acceptable under the Second Amendment.”
