A man “well known to the NYPD” was arrested when cops found him asleep in a Brooklyn subway station — with a loaded gun easily seen sticking out of his waistband, video shows.

Lawrence Costa, 45, was busted around 6:40 a.m. Sunday when officers walking through the station at Myrtle Avenue and Broadway in Bed-Stuy saw a black firearm in “plain view,” an NYPD spokesperson told The Post.

Bodycam footage shows officers walking up to someone asleep on the subway stairs — with the gun sticking out of his belt below a bright blue and yellow hoodie.

“You all right? Everything good?” an officer can be heard asking while nudging the sleeping suspect awake. Another officer can be seen grabbing the firearm from the suspect’s waistband as he’s cuffed.

“It doesn’t get much easier than this!” the NYPD said while sharing footage of the arrest.

“In today’s edition of ‘can’t make this up’ — a 45-year-old male (well known to the NYPD) thought nothing of falling asleep on a Brooklyn train station staircase this morning with an illegally possessed & loaded firearm exposed,” NYPD Chief of Transit Michael M. Kemper wrote on X.

“Definitely not the best decision he’s made,” Kemper added.

An NYPD spokesperson did not elaborate on how Costa was known to the department.

Costa faces multiple criminal possession of a weapon charges for the gun, which was illegal and loaded, police said. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.
