The former religious leader of the controversial Ground Zero mosque project yesterday settled two multimillion-dollar lawsuits with his former financial backer.
Robert Deak, a Westchester businessman, returned $1.35 million to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf as part of the deal, a statement said.
Rauf had sued Deak last year, alleging the donor had tricked him into overpaying for a $1.5 million condo in Washington. The settlement said Deak has to return most of that money from the deal.
Meanwhile, Deak dropped a $25 million suit he had filed against Rauf in February, claiming the married imam embezzled millions from his Muslim charity to lavish gifts on a gal pal.
