Hampton biz heads $outh
Time to step out of the spotlight, East Hampton.
The median price for an East Hampton Town home sale last year was $875,000 — but Southampton Town is nipping at its heels at $865,000, according to Suffolk Research Service.
“East Hampton used to always have the bigger numbers, but it looks like that’s changed now,” said SRS President George Simpson.
He attributed the reversal to the popularity of such enclaves as Sagaponack and Southampton Village.
Mayor Bloomberg recently picked up a Tuckahoe mansion for $20 million, and Jennifer Lopez sprang for an $18 million Water Mill spread.
