Hamptons home sales up
It’s alive!
The recently flat-lined Hamptons home market showed signs of life for a second straight quarter, thanks to calmer nerves on Wall Street and greater flexibility in sellers’ asking prices.
The number of home sales in Southampton Town jumped to 231 in the third quarter from a recession-low 106 in the first quarter, and the number of East Hampton Town homes sold rose to 88 from 55, according to Suffolk Research Service.
“One quarter could have been a fluke,” said Suffolk Research President George Simpson. “But two in a row is very encouraging.”
