Hamptons jaguar on loose
Middle-aged “cougars” are common in the Hamptons — but jaguars?
State officials are on the lookout for a massive gray cat spotted this week around East Hampton that could be an escaped exotic pet.
Department of Environmental Conservation agents canvassed an East Hampton farm where an alarmed resident reported seeing a 5-foot long, 2-foot high gray creature with a striped tail munching on compost and bits of meat.
The animal had taken off by the time officials arrived, but left behind large footprints.
There are reports of two similar encounters, but officials have yet to spot the creature.
