Daniel, the miracle beagle who survived an Alabama pound’s gas chamber, is starting his new life with a loving New Jersey family as a canine crusader.

“God spared his life for a reason,’’ said Joe Dwyer, of Nutley, whose family adopted Daniel last week.

He hopes Daniel will be an effective poster puppy in the battle against the use of animal gas chambers, and help raise awareness of the need for adoption.
