A construction worker was crushed to death in The Bronx yesterday by a giant refrigeration unit that slid off a flatbed truck trailer.

A crane was hoisting the front of the trailer next to Bronx Lebanon Hospital as Tristan Mananghaya stood next to it, authorities at the scene said.

Suddenly, a chain that linked the trailer to the crane snapped, said witnesses. The trailer fell and the refrigeration unit slid off onto the sidewalk, crushing Mananghaya, 38, of Jersey City.
