State Assemblyman Eddie Gibbs was arrested Thursday for interfering with cops as they pulled over his brother’s car in Manhattan — then later said the incident was “all on” him.
The NYPD’s Strategic Response Group stopped the Harlem Democrat’s sibling for a broken tail light as he drove near Lexington Avenue and East 117 Street in East Harlem around 1:30 p.m., according to sources.
After he handed over ID to police, Gibbs — a pal of Mayor Eric Adams — arrived and allegedly told his brother to get out of the car.

Gibbs has served the 68th District in Harlem since 2022. William FarringtonBut police ordered the motorist to stay put while telling the worked-up politician to stay on the sidewalk, sources said.
Instead, Gibbs allegedly ignored repeated police warnings — leading to his arrest.
Hours after his arrest, an apologetic Gibbs emerged from the 25th Precinct and admitted to reporters he “interfered with an NYPD stop.”
Gibbs, clad in a sweatshirt and cap, said police “did nothing wrong” during the altercation.
“It was all on my part. I see my brother and sister in the car and they were pulled over and I wanted to know why,” he recounted.
“When they explained the brake light, I went and adjusted the brake and I shouldn’t have because the stop was still active.”
It’s not the first time Gibbs was caught in legal trouble.
He dealt crack cocaine in the late 80s before he was locked up on murder charges.
Gibbs spent a year in Rikers before working out a plea deal to reduce his charges to manslaughter for a shooting he claimed was in self-defense while his home was getting robbed.

Gibbs was recently accused of illegally firing a former employee as he battled a health crisis that resulted in him losing his leg.
Ex-staffer Keith Lily alleged in a June lawsuit that Gibbs axed him while he was in a hospital for several weeks.
The East Harlem pol is closely allied with embattled Mayor Eric Adams and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.
Earlier this year, Gibbs managed to fend off a primary challenger backed by powerful Harlem Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) by a margin of around 500 votes.
Heastie helped corral support to defend Gibbs during the primary.
Gibbs was given a disorderly conduct summons for Thursday’s episode with police, sources said.
He warned New Yorkers to “respect car stops” while speaking outside the stationhouse.
“You know, officers don’t know who they are dealing with,” Gibbs said.
“Officers don’t know who they are pulling aside and I added to that fear,” he added.
“I was wrong.”
