He’s a hero who fears his selflessness may one day be repaid — with a bullet.

Brooklyn school-safety officer Eugene Pitt, who saved the life of a wounded cop during a stickup by four thugs, is one of 20 finalists for an award handed out by Congressional Medal of Honor recipients.

But the Fort Greene resident wishes it had never happened. Cops caught two of the robbers, but the other two are still out there.

“I’m stressed out every day because of it, always looking over my shoulder,” said the soft-spoken Pitt, 51.

He has sought counseling and would move out of town if he could, he added.

Yet he’s also “greatly honored” by the recognition.

He was with pals, including off-duty bridge and tunnel cop Anthony Presley, at DSG Auto Repair in Bed-Stuy on April 16 when the four punks burst in and shot Presley in the shoulder.

Pitt grabbed Presley’s gun and squeezed off several shots as the crooks fled.
