The New York sailor who hoped to spend a record 1,000 days at sea has easily surpassed that mark — but not exactly because he wanted to.

Reid Stowe, 58, has been forced to postpone his homecoming — and a chance to see his toddler son for the first time — for about five months because of unpredictable weather.

“There’s still a ways to go before he comes home,” longtime girlfriend Soanya Ahmad, 26, of Queens, told The Post yesterday. “There’s a certain amount of nervousness, too, because it’s going to be a huge adjustment.”

Stowe this week celebrated spending three full years on his marathon voyage aboard his 70-foot, gaff-rigged schooner, Anne. That’s 1,096 days. The old record was 657.

He’s due to make landfall June 17 in New York and has never met 21-month-old Darshen.
