A Staten Island caterer testified yesterday that a mobbed-up rival pulled a gun and threatened to burn down his partner’s bagel shops if he didn’t drop his bid for a school-lunch contract.
Reputed Genovese crime-family associate Frank DiMattina, 42, “pretty much told me to get out of the bid” that he and the defendant were both after, Walter Bowers, 52, told a jury.
The testimony came on the second day of DiMattina’s trial on federal extortion and firearms charges.
Bowers said that after he bought a catering hall from DiMattina, an engineer told him that part of the hall was zoned for homes, and would have to be torn down.
