Health-code ‘e-ppeals’
Finally, takeout for restaurant owners.
Proprietors who’ve complained for years about interminable waits for health-code-violation hearings can now plead their cases over the Internet.
Suzanne Beddoe, chief administrative law judge for the city’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, announced yesterday that its Web site now has “one-click” hearings.
“We understand that coming to an in-person hearing” can cost “business owners time and money,” she said.
Users can provide a written defense and supporting materials, such as photographs and documents, she said.
