A heartless mugger pummeled a 73-year-old woman before snatching her handbag on a Brooklyn street this week, authorities said.

The elderly victim was walking on Nevins Street near Fulton Street in Boerum Hill when a woman suddenly punched her multiple times in the face and body — causing her “substantial pain” — around 9:30 p.m. Friday, cops said.

The stranger then grabbed the victim’s pocketbook and ran off, police said.

The shocking assault took place just steps from the Nevins Street Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 subway station.

The septuagenarian was left with cuts and severe pain to her face, authorities said.

The suspected assailant — who is still on the loose — was described as a woman in her 20s, with a dark complexion, standing about 5 feet 8, cops said.

She was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and yellow sneakers.

In a similar incident earlier this month, a 70-year-old man was repeatedly punched and robbed of $200 during a random attack as he got off an N train at West 32nd Street and Broadway, police said.

The robber then senselessly kicked the victim’s cellphone onto the train tracks, according to cops.
