A helicopter made an emergency landing in marshy water off Jones Beach Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The whirlybird landed in the low water near the Loop Parkway around 4:15 p.m., a Nassau County Police Department spokesman said.

The pilot — the only person aboard — received a minor laceration, the spokesman said. A Merrick Fire Department boat took the him to a nearby U.S. Coast Guard station.

The pilot may have been having navigational problems due to heavy fog, police said.
