A New Jersey cop is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of a baby girl who fell into a swimming pool, according to a report.

Elizabeth Police Officer Leo Nunes responded about 5:30 p.m. Sunday to a home on Morristown Road, where he found the 1-year-old unresponsive, police spokeswoman Ruby Contreras told local news outlet TAPintoElizabeth.net.

Nunes performed CPR on the child, who had been underwater for about a minute, and was able to revive her, Contreras said.

The girl was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where she stayed for 24 hours, and was doing well, she added.
