Hide-&-seek Pedro judge
Now he’s calling his sentencing judge a liar.
Convicted former state Sen. Pedro Espada Jr. is demanding a review of surveillance tapes and other records from the Brooklyn federal courthouse in order to determine presiding Judge Frederic Block’s whereabouts while a jury was deliberating his fate.
Espada said that on May 14, 2012, Block barged in on the jury and urged them to reach a verdict, and he wants a new trial. Block insists that he wasn’t in the building, although two jurors said they spoke to him during deliberations.
“The jurors’ statements are very specific,” Espada said in the filing.
