The New York State Senate’s Special Committee on Inquiry released its final report this morning on Sen. Hiram Monserrate’s December 2008 incident involving the slashing of his girlfriend.  The committee determined that Monserrate’s “misconduct damages the integrity and the reputation of the New York State Senate and demonstrates a lack of fitness to serve in this body.” Committee recommends that the full Senate censure or expel Monserrate.
