Hours after being convicted in a 2004 murder-for-hire plot, a man apparently committed suicide inside his jail cell.

Nassau County police say 29-year-old Herve Jeannot was found hanging by a sheet inside his cell at the county jail in East Meadow at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Jeannot was convicted Tuesday of murdering bookie runner Bobby Calabrese for $4.000.
