The Holland Tunnel to New York is closed after cops shot a motorist who failed to stop and then allegedly tried to run officers down, sources said.

The gunplay unfolded shortly before 7 p.m. when a car with two men inside passing through toll plaza on the New Jersey side, according to preliminary accounts.

Port Authority ordered the driver to stop for unknown reason but he refused. Officers pursued the car into the tunnel, until the suspect’s vehicle at one point apparently got boxed in, sources said.

When at least one officer approached the car, the driver “tried to use the car as a weapon” by running down one of the PAPD cops. Sources said one of the officers may have been dragged.

This prompted one officer to fire several times, sources said.

One of the two men was wounded in the shoulder and both were taken to Bellevue Hospital, sources said.

None of the cops were believed to have been seriously injured, although two were taken to the Jersey City Medical Center, a source said.

Traffic inside the tunnel was closed as a result of the on-going investigation, snarling the commute for many motorists heading home.
