Inspectors shuttered a Long Island mosque just days before the beginning of Ramadan, the holiest month of the Muslim year, citing construction violations — but some worshippers question the timing of the closure.

The town of Oyster Bay closed Masjid al-Baqi in Bethpage on Tuesday after it was found in violation of plumbing and electrical codes, mosque lawyer Steve Morelli said yesterday.
