A married couple was duct-taped and robbed in the Bronx Tuesday by a group of thieves who stole $127,000 that they were hiding in a shoebox in their closet, police sources said.
Halinson Ortiz, 47, told cops he was grabbed on a second floor stairwell at his home on Evergreen Avenue in Soundview and forced at gunpoint back into his apartment. Once inside, the thief duct-taped Ortiz’s hands behind his back. Another thief, duct-taped his wife, Maria Ortiz.
There were four suspects in all in the home invasion, cops said. They stole $127,000 that was hidden in the closet.
A police source said the couple might have been familiar with the robbers.
“How else would they have known?” the source said.
