A homeless man was picked up hours after allegedly hacking at a helpless deli worker with a machete in Hells Kitchen, police said Sunday.

Rigoberto Reyes, 57, was arrested just after 2 p.m. Saturday on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal tressing passing, according to police.

Reyes, known locally as “Ricardo,” allegedly marched into Liberty Bagel & Deli on Ninth Avenue, between West 48th and 49th streets, at 11:15 that morning and swung the long blade at the 35-year-old worker.

Sukhdev Singh had to get 8 to 10 stitches to his arm at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, according to another worker.

The chilling encounter was captured on a surveillance camera inside the deli.
