A Bronx homeless shelter worker was raped in the shelter’s basement laundry room by a resident Tuesday morning, police sources said.
The woman was sorting clothes at the Part of the Solution Home on Webster Avenue near East 197th Street when Juan Sanchez — a shelter resident who occasionally helps out with the laundry — locked the door and raped her around 9:30 a.m., sources said.
After the harrowing incident, the 41-year-old victim walked into a local police precinct to file a report.
Sanchez — a 40-year-old with an extensive criminal record — fled the shelter after the attack, but has since been arrested, sources said.
Sanchez was apprehended Wednesday and charged with rape, authorities said.
