A homeless woman described as a well-liked neighborhood fixture was found dead on a park bench in Queens yesterday — apparently killed just yards from a police station, officials said.
She may have been bludgeoned to death, sources said.
Neighbors of the park, at Liberty Avenue and 102nd Street in Ozone Park, said they often gave the unidentified woman money, clothes and food.
They said she looked to be in her 60s and had been living in the park for about a month.
“She was just trying to survive,” said Jacqueline Gallagher, 30. “She never asked for money.”
