The anti-horse-carriage group NYCLASS has agreed to pay a five-figure fine to settle charges that it violated campaign-finance rules during the 2013 election, a lawyer for the group said Wednesday.

The deal stems from findings by the city’s Campaign Finance Board earlier this year that NYCLASS had exceeded contribution limits to two City Council candidates.

NYCLASS lawyer Randy Mastro pinned the blame for the illegal contributions on the group’s consulting firm, The Advance Group.

“NYCLASS is deeply disappointed about the position in which it has been placed by TAG in breach of its contractual and other legal obligations,” Mastro wrote in a publicly released letter.
