New Jersey’s two US senators are trying to bring the proposed Trans Hudson tunnel back to life.

Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, both Democrats, said they’ll announce their plan today for a tunnel to replace the one killed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in October because of the expense.

Representatives for the two senators told The Star-Ledger the tunnel would allow 13 additional NY Transit trains and eight more Amtrak trains an hour to travel between Manhattan and Secaucus.

The so-called “Gateway” route would connect to new tracks in Penn Station, rather than end under the West 34th Street.

Supporters of the project would still have to find federal and local funding.
